Behind the Change

At ALP, thinking is as important as breathing.

AD - Lucy

# A finance degree opens doors beyond the financial industry.

# Enjoys thinking without boundaries.

Lucy joined ALP in 2020, and despite her quiet appearance, she exhibits a great sense of humor in conversations. As a member of the Administration Department, Lucy supports various business initiatives and serves as a reliable pillar.

Stepping out of the established career path, pursuing self-growth

Lucy, a graduate in Quantitative Finance from National Tsing Hua University, initially entered the banking sector like many of her peers. However, she soon found the banking industry's segmented work structure limiting and repetitive. Seeking a more dynamic and growth-oriented environment, Lucy reevaluated her career path. The desire for a versatile role led her to transition out of the finance sector and explore opportunities in different industries, eventually bringing her to ALP.

At ALP, Lucy noticed a significant difference in the work atmosphere compared to her previous experiences. The collaborative spirit at ALP, with a focus on mutual support and growth, was a refreshing change. Unlike the competitive nature of banking, ALP's flat organizational structure and open communication allowed for quick interactions with supervisors and across departments. The open office layout provided flexibility in choosing workspaces, fostering a conducive environment for switching roles and moods. Meetings at ALP are purpose-driven, aimed at integrating ideas from various project participants to solve problems and coordinate future actions. Lucy appreciates this collaborative culture, providing insights into the activities of other departments.

Learning from zero to one with project-based work

In the Administration Department, Lucy takes on project roles involving administrative tasks, finance, and accounting to support various needs of the company. Recently, she managed projects related to ERP implementation and ISO-related cybersecurity certifications. Although this work differs from her initial field of study, Lucy appreciates the opportunity to learn on the job. Project work, she believes, offers a chance for comprehensive involvement from preparation to execution, with no room for turning back. Despite challenges and differences from her academic background, Lucy embraces the trial-and-error process, finding satisfaction in overcoming obstacles.

Three reasons Lucy enjoys project tasks: they don't exclude newcomers or those without relevant experience; they provide daily opportunities for personal growth; and each project can be extended, contributing to the company's ongoing challenges and enhancing her value.

At ALP, thinking is as crucial as breathing

ALP feels like a return to university days for Lucy, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual progress. Working on projects with colleagues, striving for group success, encouraging each other during difficult times—these interactions feel natural. The company encourages and provides opportunities for thinking and trying new things, a departure from many other companies that discourage independent thinking. Lucy highlights the importance of thinking and the opportunities for trial and error at ALP, factors that contribute to continuous improvement and happiness.

When asked about the best thing at ALP, Lucy emphatically states, "Thinking! ALP wants you to think and provides opportunities to try. Many companies don't want you to think!" For her, the promotion of change for the better represents thinking and progress. Continuous improvement requires constant reflection on what to do next, how to do it, how others do it, and why the approaches differ. ALP hopes this mindset will continue to influence Lucy, helping her evolve beyond her current self.
